Assuming they are from the States, flat wages are going to vary from state-to-state, city-to-city and even store-to-store (for example, if you work at a MAC store, you’ll make more hourly than working at a counter in a department store) but mostly it’s commission based. Like you said, it’s a sales job. If someone is looking to get into makeup artistry to do makeup on people all day, a MAC store isn’t the way to go. Look into a salon.
